TMSA
Transit Managers
and
Supervisors Association

  • Notes from the Secretary/Treasurer:

The financial health of the TMSA is very strong.  We currently have twelve $5000 certificates of deposit.  Regretfully the yield rate of these CD’s continues to drop, but they are still making money.  In fact, last year our CD’s and Credit Union Dividends earned the TMSA over $2500.  Once again, the TMSA Board came in under budget for the year.  Please see the annual financial statement for details.

A major action the TMSA Board is pursuing is a Petition for Clarification with the Bureau of Mediation Services.  There are several positions that the TMSA feels are management positions but are currently non-represented.  The positions we are seeking to represent include:

    1.      Tom Randall, Senior Manager, Revenue Operations, Finance

    2.      Steve True, Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, Finance

    3.      Vacant, Manager, Budget, Finance

    4.      Joe Edwards, Lead Project Manager, Engineering and Facilities

    5.      Kevin Ryan, Manager, Construction Services, Engineering and Facilities

    6.      John Edmunds, Lead Project Manager, Engineering and Facilties

    7.      Gary Berger, Manager, Transitways Administration, for Metro Transit Deputy General Manager

    8.      Vacant, Manager, Vehicle Design and Procurement, Transit Systems Design and Construction

    9.      Chris Weyer, Manager, Transitways Engineering, Transit Systems Design and Construction

    10.  Jim Alexander, Manager, Transitways Design, Transit Systems Design and Construction

    11.  Vacant, Manager, Transitways Construction, Transit Systems Design and Construction

    12.  Vacant, Manager, Environment, Environmental and Project Control

    13.  Vacant, Manager, Project Controls, Environmental and Project Control

    14.      Frederick Coulter, Supervisor, Asset Protection

We have had three meetings with the Metropolitan Council about these positions.  During these three meetings, the Metropolitan Council has agreed that the TMSA should represent the Manager, Construction Services, Engineering and Facilities and the Manager, Transitways Construction, Transit Systems Design and Construction (Currently working in the Central Corridor Project Office).  The TMSA has agreed that the Senior Manager, Revenue Operations and Senior Manager, Financial Reporting in Finance shall not be represented by the TMSA.  We have also agreed that we will table discussion on the vacant positions 8, 12, and 13 until a decision is made as to whether these positions will ever be filled.

We will keep you informed as the process continues.
